Jasmine Shepard's Story

When I was 11, I saw a video on TikTok mentioning that some people see static in their vision 24/7, and I was shocked because I had static in my vision 24/7. So, I went to my mom and announced that some people don’t see static all the time, and how crazy that was.

She decided to do a little research, and after sifting through a million things about auras, she found Visual Snow Syndrome and quickly booked an assessment with our GP.

After a bit, he referred us to my neurologist, Dr. Owen White. He did a quick assessment and I was soon diagnosed with Visual Snow.

The first 2-3 years of high school were hard, with migraines and photosensitivity. Eventually, things smoothed out after going through the tough years, and I would only have severe migraines about once a month.

Now, at 16, my experiences have made me want to pursue neurology to help others who suffer from my condition.
