Hi, my name is Lucas, and I am 10 years old. I live in England. I developed visual snow about 4 years ago.
My visual snow seems to be worse on plain white walls, in the dark, or when I close my eyes. I am also very sensitive to light.
My mom has taken me to numerous opticians and even a neurologist, who all say my eyes are fine and don’t know what else to say. I was diagnosed with visual snow syndrome 1 year ago. My mom has found a neurologist in London, so I am waiting to see if he can help. Fingers crossed!
My coping strategies are using stress/fidget toys and playing football. These are all distractions to help me cope with the visual snow. I do feel that when I am stressed or have a bad day, my visual snow becomes worse.
I call these snow attacks!
I have realized that distraction is key. My teacher once told me that I have superpowers, and my power is visual snow.
Hopefully, they will find a cure soon, and in the meantime, remember you’re not alone.
